Notes:  All high school PARCC and AIR tests are taken when the student is enrolled in that specific course.  The new PARCC and AIR exams do not include students in grades 10, 11, or 12 for 2014-15 with the following exceptions:

  1. American History will be taken by all current students when they take their American History Course.
  2. American Government will be taken by all current students when they take their American Government Course.

Additional details regarding current freshman students:

      3. Students that took Physical Science first semester are exempt from                    testing.  They receive a default passing score.

      4. Students that took Algebra I in grade 8 are exempt from testing.  They             receive a default passing score.

PBAs/EOYs/EOCs and Test Sessions
Ohio's new assessments differ largely from what we are used to.  The basic premise is that a Performance-Based Assessment will be administered when a course is approximately 75% complete.  Near the conclusion of the course, an End of Year (EOY)/End of Course (EOC) test will be administered.  These new assessments have been developed by two privately contracted entities (PARCC - ELA and Math and AIR (Science/Social Studies).

Another substantial difference is that these assessments have multiple sessions.  In the past, all standardized tests have been given on one day in one session lasting approximately two hours.  The following table details how the new assessments are broken down:
