On October 21, 2016, the Art Outreach Gallery in the Eastwood Mall in Niles, Ohio will kick off a preview exhibition "Overcome" featuring photography created by Gabby Scianna, a senior high student from Canfield High School. The preview exhibition runs October 21 through November 6, 2016. A complete exhibition, "Beautiful Minds" will follow November 11 through November 27, 2016.
Gabby state, "I was inspired by photographer, Martin Weber in my photography. Through situations I have overcome, I portrayed that I am not the only one to “overcome.” I asked students what they have overcome or realized mentally. I had them write down their answer in my sketchbook and hold their answers in their photograph. Not only will the viewer be intrigued by the photograph, but also by the students’ answers. Behind a beautiful subject lies a beautiful mind, personality, and spirit much deeper and stronger that the struggles they have overcome. “Beautiful Minds” is a collection of my portraiture, continuing with the theme of “Overcome.”
An opening reception and meet the artist will be November 11 from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The reception is free and open to the public.
