During the week of October 24-28, 2016, hundreds of schools and youth organizations from across the United States will participate in Say Something Week. Canfield Village Middle School is participating in the event. Say Something Week, a Sandy Hook Promise event, reinforces the power young people have to prevent tragedies and save lives when they Say Something to a trusted adult.
On Thursday, October 27, 2016, Canfield Village Middle is having a Green Day where students and staff are encouraged to wear green. Green is the official Sandy Hook color. In addition, students in grades 6-8 will have a Say Something speaker from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Say Something teaches students, how to look for warning signs, signals and threats, especially in social media, from a peer who might be planning to hurt themselves or someone else and to say something to a trusted adult to get help and save a life. The Sandy Hook Promise is a national non-profit organization founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School on December 14, 2012.
