It’s an event unlike any other in Canfield as students hoped for the Gold, in Chemistry! In December and beginning of January, all of the chemistry classes participated in the 2nd Chemistry Olympics. The chemistry students divided into teams of 4 and will competed in 7 different events designed to apply the concepts learned during their time in the courses. The students competed for medals in the individual events and an overall champion trophy. The overall results were:
1st place (gold)- Holly Eberly, Zoe Kabetso, Jenna Allender and Karaline Lisowski
2nd place (silver) - Emilia Aey, Anna Kan, Chloe Kalina, Tony Pannunzio, Jake Hostetter tied with John Gomez, Andrew Morchak, Jackson Crist
3rd place (bronze) - Katie Dysert, Claire Audia, Aurora Fares and Olivia Love
The events were designed to allow any student that has completed our chemistry 1 course to be successful. The materials and prizes for the competition were funded through a $1500 American Chemical Society Hach Grant.
