Social Emotional Health and Wellness is a Priority in the Canfield Schools

The Canfield Local School District is committed to educating the whole child. Joe Knoll, Superintendent says, “The social and emotional wellness is the foundation for academic learning, upon which happy, healthy futures are built. Our staff of licensed school counselors, in collaboration with local mental health professionals, hope to educate and support not just our current Cardinals but also their families.”

Canfield school counselors have been busy creating a district Social and Emotional Resource Library for parents and students. This resource is available on the district website and will continually be curated to include helpful tools and information on a variety of topics. Knoll encourages individuals to visit the Resource Library and to contact the team of school counselors with any questions or concerns.

Additionally, the week of September 28, 2020, is “Start With Hello” Week in the district. Knoll says, “The goal is to teach our students how to create a culture of inclusion and connectedness. It's going to be fun-filled with daily themes, activities and discussion.”  The national Start With Hello program brings attention to the growing epidemic of loneliness and social isolation, which can often lead to bullying, violence, and depression.
