The Canfield Local School District is proud to announce an exciting opportunity with the Avalon University School of Medicine (AUSOM)! Beginning in the 2017-18 school year, high school students will have an opportunity to earn two semesters of free pre-medical coursework through an articulation agreement with the Avalon University School of Medicine. John Tullio, Curriculum Director says, “During my tenure, I’ve seen the vast majority of our students enter the field of medicine. This agreement gives our kids a real head start.” The two semesters will save students approximately $20,000 including tuition, room, and board.
Avalon University School of Medicine was founded in 2003 and has an academic team and curriculum which focuses on the success of its student body. AUSOM’s faculty consists of professors who are qualified doctors with a great experience and knowledge of the basic sciences and medical practice, which makes them an integral part of the success of AUSOM graduates. The island of Curacao is one of the most developed and modern islands in the Caribbean, which allows AUSOM to conduct the medical program in an up-to-date and friendly environment. All clinical rotations are in the United States and all students are eligible to sit for the Unites States Medical Licensing Examinations.
The agreement will be signed at the 6:00 p.m. Board of Education meeting on April 12, 2017.
