The Canfield Local School District named John Vitto as Assistant Superintendent/Curriculum Director during the May 12, 2021, Board of Education meeting. “We chose Mr. Vitto for his extensive educational administrative experience, his commitment to innovation, and his outstanding dedication to the district,” said Joe Knoll, Superintendent.
Over the past 29 years, Mr. Vitto has served as the Director of Pupil Services and a School Psychologist in Canfield. Under his leadership, the district received the highest possible rating on the annual Ohio Special Education Report Card for multiple consecutive years. Mr. Vitto has authored, received, and managed over $1,000,000 in competitive grants for Social-Emotional Learning and School Safety, Technology, Response to Intervention to reduce the incidence of reading disabilities, Early Literacy, and Positive Behavior Supports. He has also been an Adjunct Instructor at University of Mount Union.
“I am looking forward to widening my lens from special and gifted education to each and every student and supporting the district towards continuous improvement” said John Vitto.
Mr. Vitto resides in Canfield with his wife, Myra. Their son, Julian is a proud Canfield graduate.
