Superintendent's Message

Dear Canfield Families and Community,

I am excited to begin the 2020-2021 school year as your Superintendent. For the past eight years, I served as the Superintendent in the Marlington Local School District. Prior to that, I was an Assistant Superintendent at the Mahoning County Educational Service Center and Principal at West Branch High School. What brought me to Canfield is the rich tradition of academic excellence. I am looking forward to working with the Board of Education, administration, teachers, staff, and students in furthering student performance at all levels.

It is my philosophy that the safety and well-being of our students and staff is the number one priority and every decision will center around this belief. Keeping that in mind, this year is going to look and feel different. We are focusing on maintaining academic excellence while providing students with an in person education in a manner that is cautionary and does not affect teaching and learning. Our goal is to have a plan that will educate the children of Canfield in a safe way for both students and staff.  We plan to offer on-campus learning and virtual learning options.

Our district goal is to keep our stakeholders informed as we navigate the changing waters during this school year. You can count on our dedicated staff as we move forward. You can count on our commitment to your children and the Canfield Local School District.  Together, we will honor our past while we shape our future!

Educationally,

Joe Knoll
